YouTube: Cereal Time

Standard

maxresdefaultCereal Time is a week daily breakfast show on YouTube. Starring Jimmy Hill of Jimmy0010  and Charlie McDonnell of Charlieissocoollike  as the hosts, this becomes a very British channel.

Many people have pointed out Cereal Time’s similarity with Good Mythical Morning,  an American YouTube channel with week daily shows and very similar content which has been running for over seven seasons. It is true that the two shows are the British/American counterparts of each other but I think if you enjoy GMM and want something new or a little different to enjoy, Cereal Time is there for you.

I want to recommend this show because I’ve been enjoying it so much. I love the hosts a lot and have been watching their individual content for a while. I’ve even recommended Jimmy before on my blog.

The videos consist of challenges, games and discussions as well as structured sections, a different one each day, which are: Feature Tombola, Answerphone Mondays, Old News Tuesdays, Skype Games and Cereal time University.

So far their videos have included, June Christmas, making each other out of cereal, answering exam questions from British GCSE papers, creating superheroes, whether they would date ‘that dog’ and science experiments.

There’s little more to say, so check out the examples below and go visit Cereal Time.

TV and Film: Gotham

Standard

545ddf9572315e8ee4634a61409644d5Today I’m recommending the TV series Gotham. It’s never too late to pick up a TV show especially this one as it’s only recently finished its first season rather successfully.

I began watching Gotham because I enjoy the whole Batman universe and I have done since watching the Tim Burton movies and the modern trilogy by Chris Nolan. Suffice to say I’m excited for 2016’s Batman Vs Superman.

The series has a really interesting context, acting as a prequel to the Batman story that pretty much everyone already knows. Since everyone already knows about Bruce Wayne’s upbringing and – SPOILER – his parents’ murders the show takes the interesting viewpoint of a Mr Jim Gordon. For those of you who don’t know, or have forgotten, Jim Gordon is a police acquaintance of Batman who always works on Batman/Bruce Wayne’s side.

So the series starts with Jim Gordon in his new role as Gotham Police Detective alongside his new partner Harvey. He sets out to rid Gotham of its corruption and its dishonesty but struggles against a city which is basically run by two sets of rich mobsters who have very serious and very violent rivalries.

Gotham shows the beginnings of other well-known Batman characters such as; Bruce Wayne, Scarecrow, The Joker, Cat Woman, Poison Ivy, Harvey Dent (Two Face), Ed Nigma (Riddler) and especially Penguin. However, even if you don’t know a thing about Batman you can still watch this show, seriously, you don’t need prior knowledge at all to understand the story lines or anything else.

The show has the format, which a lot of new US shows at the moment have, in that: a new case is brought about, say a murder, and is solved in each episode. This is very similar to Elementary, a relatively new show itself. These shows seem to be quite popular at the moment, so if you like that kind of show, Gotham has that element too.

It has come to my attention that the makers are going to be making a second series, which I’m really excited for  so that I can see how these characters develop more, despite the fact I know what they’ll ‘grow up’ to be from following Batman already.

If you like the sound of it, go check it out… and enjoy!

TV: Top 5 Favourites

Standard

This week I don’t just want to rave about one TV show, so here are my top 5 favourites of right now:

1. NCIS

My entire household loves NCIS, that’s me, my parents and my granddad, and a lot of my friends also watch NCIS avidly. ncis-cast-featuredWe’ve been watching odd episodes here and there on several TV channels  and now my Dad has recently purchased Seasons 1 – 8 on DVD so that we can finally watch them in order. I think one reason why the show is so good is because of its characters; their relationships are what keep the audience interested after all.

2.Death_in_Paradise_series_3___what_did_you_think_ Death in Paradise.

This is a brilliant BBC One show. It’s set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint-Marie and is currently into its fourth season. The show follows the islands police and homicide detectives who solve various dghmurders. Again, I think the characters are what keep the audience watching.

3. Suits

This show is so flawlessly put together with an amazing cast displayed so stylishly that it’s hard not to be enthralled in it. It is a very popular show but if you are in the minority and don’t know what it’s about, it follows corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his relationship with fraudulent lawyer Mike Ross.

4. Happy Endings.happy-endings-abc

I feel like this show has been underrated and thus only spanned three seasons from 2011 until 2013. It is staged alike popular shows such as Friends, and How I Met Your Mother, with a cast of six friends following their various relationships and comic problems. I enjoy thisBuffy-the-Vampire-Slayer-buffy-the-vampire-slayer-182338_446_600 show so much and as thus have been trying to buy the seasons on DVD.

5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

My final recommendation today is, of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I couldn’t not mention Buffy as it will always be my favourite TV Show. Although it has been little over a decade since Joss Whedon ended the series, it is never too late to start watching it. I remember when I was a lot younger, that I watched Buffy with my Dad but I was too young to fully comprehend what I was actually watching. So, when my Dad bought the series, I started to watch it all in order and fell in love with it. I love the concept and the characters and I just think it’s a seamless mix of horror and comedy with that ninety’s/noughties feel and for me it’s the perfect show.

Food: Chips Ahoy Cookies

Standard

I recommend biscuits a lot due to the fact they tend to be the only new foods I try… so, today I’m recommending Chips Ahoy! Crispy Choco Caramel cookies. Chips Ahoy is an American brand, or so I gather, as the cookies are more widely distributed there than anywhere else. Recently, the brand has made its way to the UK with this new variety of cookie and another of a different flavour. As soon as I saw them advertised I wanted to try them and fortunately I found them in a chips ahoylocal ASDA supermarket.

Before even opening the cookies, the packaging is so handy as it has a resealable tab at the top. The cookies were delicious (they’re all gone now). They are quite rich in chocolaty flavour and have nice chunky chips inside. These include: chocolate chips, milk chocolate coated caramel croquant and wheat and corn flakes, at least that’s what the packaging states.

They are so good and not as unhealthy as my last biscuit recommendation was!

Food and Sweets: Millions Vs. Nanobytes

Standard

DSC07767 DSC07770Two weeks ago I compared Warheads to Toxic Waste while recommending both. I am again doing a similar thing but comparing Millions and their assumed successor Nanobytes.

Both sweets are exactly the same and at the moment are both equally rare to find, at least for me. I could only find Millions in Poundland when I was looking recently and they weren’t even in my local Co-op store and Nanobytes, well honestly, I’ve never seen in a shop as I have only received them as free gifts in two different issues of Shout Magazine.

They’re both ‘tiny tasty chewy sweets’ made with ‘real fruit juice’ with ‘no artificial colours’ and are both suitable for vegetarians like myself.

They’re just delicious chewy sweets and I recommend both.

P.S. I realise this was a kind of random and short post, I just wanted to explain that there is another pair of sweets that are basically the same and how much I like both.

Food: Warheads (Vs. Toxic Waste)

Standard

packetSo today… I’m recommending/reviewing the American sour candy Warheads.

WarheadsFrom watching people on YouTube I became familiar with hearing about the sour sweet Warheads. I always wondered what they were like and how sour they were. I managed to find them in a small sweet shop in Gainsborough’s Marshalls Yard. They cost £1.99 which isn’t bad, especially considering that they are American and are pretty rare in our country. Anyway… I couldSweet save your money by telling you that they are exactly like our English sour sweet, Toxic Waste. I’m not complaining, I like that Warheads are basically the same, I like them, but in future I’ll buy Toxic Waste for £1 instead. They have the exact same flavours, the same look and shape, the same packaging. The only difference I could find is that Warheads are in a larger ordinary packet and Toxic Waste are in a plastic container resembling that of cartoon Toxic Waste barrel.

So for Americans, I do recommend Warheads if you want a good, strong, sour sweet and for those of you who are English, I recommend Toxic Waste if you also want a good, strong, sour sweet.

P.S. Sour sweets are my favourites.
