Today I’m recommending Ingrid Nilsen. If you’re eagle eyed or have been paying attention to my blog for long enough, you’ll know that I have actually recommended her YouTube channel, Miss Glamorazzi, before but since then she has updated her second channel and uses that on a regular basis too. Therefore, I’m revisiting my previous recommendation (which you can find here) and adding to it.
Just as a brief explanation if you don’t know who Ingrid Nilsen is. She is a beauty guru on YouTube who, on her main channel, posts videos about beauty, make-up and fashion and on her second channel, which I am recommending most today, she posts vlog-style videos.
On her second channel, TheGridMonster, Ingrid tended to post vlogs of all varieties, sometimes sit-down, sometimes follow-me-around daily vlogs, in the past. Not to say that this has stopped but rather the channel has undergone some renovation, let’s say. The channel is now regularly used for the uploads of a weekly series called 5 Minutes For Us. I think it’s such a great series and really talks about issues and topics in a very mature and real way. These videos are just so honest and I love that every episode is different and tackles different types of issues and so forth.
Here are a couple examples:
I want to mention this because I think it’s important: Ingrid stormed the internet with her inspiring coming out video. Not only has Ingrid become one of the first popular female and first Beauty Guru (as far as I know) to come out, she has also provided a video with a strong message, a message that everyone should have their best chance in life and just be them. Be proud to be you. Don’t apologise for being you. It doesn’t matter, like REALLY doesn’t matter, what your sexual orientation is, full stop, but it also doesn’t matter what your orientation is for you to find the video encouraging and for the message to be relevant. To see for yourself, the video is below:
Tanya Burr is a vlogger and beauty guru on YouTube. She is the sweetest and kindest person I know. She currently uses just the one channel where she posts make-up tutorials, hauls, follow-me around vlogs and challenges.
Tanya’s vlogs regularly and has recently finished vlogging every day for the entirety of September. They followed her adventures at London Fashion Week as well as her ordinary life of meetings, hanging out with her YouTube friends (Alfie Deyes, Zoe Sugg, Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Niomi Smart, Tyler Oakley and her fiancé Jim Chapman), going to the gym, going to Premieres, baking and watching the X-Factor.
Check out her channel!
Is this a food recommendation? Or is this a YouTuber recommendation? I think it’ll be both because I want to recommend a wonderful microwave cake recipe, but it’s not mine. I learnt it from Doug Armstrong, a vlogger on YouTube.
Making cakes by using a microwave is not a new invention, but it’s becoming seemingly more popular. Or at least in my opinion it is. Microwave cakes are easier on ingredients, on time and on the portion sizes. You can make a single cake and not have the others lying around to tempt you when you’re feeling peckish.
The recipe is…
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 2 tablespoons of water
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons of plain flour
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, although Caster Sugar can be used instead.
And mix and microwave for approximately 1 minute. This timing may be different for different models and wattages. For 800w, which is what my microwave is, I usually have to microwave the mixture for 1 minute or 1 minute and 10 seconds.
To see this recipe in action, you should visit Doug’s channel and watch the video I’ll add below. You should also subscribe to his channel if you want more delectable treats especially cheesecakes, as these are his favourite. But he doesn’t just bake and make food on his channel, he also does challenges, vlogs, collabs and most popular are his life hacks videos.
Here is his channel ‘about’ blurb: ‘Hey I’m Doug Armstrong, a British vlogger living in London. I like to make fun-filled, creative videos with varying themes inspired by my love for entertainment, food/cooking and music. From Life Hacks and Bacon Pancakes to One Direction parodies and funny challenges, you’ll find a wide array of content centred around my life and I have grand plans this year for bigger & better videos than ever before! Oh and I love cheesecake a lot 😀 Join our community and become a Dougling by clicking the red ‘Subscribe’ button above 🙂 http://Youtube.com/Doug’.
Fleur de Force is a beauty guru and vlogger on the popular video sharing platform we like to call YouTube. She currently has four channels, one of which she works on with her Husband, Mike, in connection with Sainsbury’s (a UK supermarket).
So, her main channel, Fleur DeForce, is where Fleur posts videos on beauty, fashion, make-up and any interesting projects she’s working on. Only recently has she posted a video on there about her trip to Zambia with Comic Relief.
Her second channel is her vlog channel, FleurDeVlog. Fleur doesn’t vlog daily, but she often posts videos on things she’s doing, events she’s been to, showing us her holidays and most importantly spending time with her three pups, two cats and wonderful husband.
The third channel, Bride De Force, is one she started with her sister in the run up to her wedding. Fleur decided to share her wedding preparations on a separate channel so that people who didn’t want to see it on her main channel didn’t have to. She also wanted to be able to help other people, give them inspiration and provide informative details about different companies, techniques and ideas.
The final channel is her cooking channel, which as I said previously, is connected to Sainsbury’s who (I assume) sponsor the videos. These cooking videos are so unlike most cooking shows. This is because it is Fleur and Mike, husband and wife, in the kitchen together doing equal jobs and trying something new. Quite often something goes wrong but they’re not afraid to show that and try again. It’s so informal and relaxed and it’s a pleasure to watch even if you don’t care for food in the slightest.
Please check out these wonderful channels. I honestly love Fleur (and Mike) so much and I’m subscribed to ALL of these channels.
Today I want to recommend MissGlamorazzi. Ingrid Nilsen is a make-up guru and vlogger on YouTube. Like many of the YouTubers I’ve recommended she’s been on the website sharing her videos since the very early years. This is her channel’s ‘blurb’; ‘Oh, hello! I’m Ingrid Nilsen and welcome to my little internet oasis! Get ready for beauty, fashion and healthy food how-to’s with a sprinkle of weird. The good kind of weird. I pinky promise!’ She also has a DIY series that she has called GIY – Glam it yourself. These are super unique and cute How to’s. I’ll have a couple as examples below.
Ingrid is a beautiful human being both inside and out. She is honestly the most down to earth and kind person I’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing and therefore you should visit her channel because she’ll most definitely brighten your day. She also recently won a Streamy Award and blew everyone away with her inspiring speech!
Again I’m keeping this brief so that I can give you a lot of examples of her videos instead, enjoy!

Today’s YouTube recommendation is Strawburry17. Meghan Camarena has been a YouTuber since late 2007 and since then her channel has gone through some massive changes, starting with random vlogs, to music videos to her daily show that she now has. Over the years, Meghan has worked hard on her channel and now she’s been able to raise enough money and save enough money through her own hard work, her YouTube career and sponsorship, to now make high production high quality videos with the help of her own team of friends and interns.
There is little more to say, except for how much I love Meghan. Her channel has received some negativity as it changes and she deserves a new group of people, from you guys, to go and give her fresh positivity. She has a vlog channel where she is more personal with her subscribers and she is so honest and so kind that it’s worth taking a look at that too.
Excuse my ramble, and enjoy some examples of her main channel videos:

Today’s YouTube recommendation is Nanalew. Shawna Howson has been a YouTuber since late 2007 and she has never looked back, as her YouTube career is now leading her towards the creation of her short film. With 556, 384 subscribers, she is probably another YouTuber who deserves more than subs than she has, especially as when her film is finished, she’ll need more people to watch it.
Her channel has evolved over the years, as expected, as she used to do more skit type videos and now does more music video type videos. Throughout all of the years though, she has been a prominent vlogger and was once part of the well-known collab channel Vlogvetica, where she vlogged about her life for the benefit of her collaborators; Meekakitty, Catrific (both of whom I have recommended on previous Wednesdays), Mitchell Davis (of LiveLavaLive) and Dan Brown (of Pogobat).
Here are a few examples of her videos:
