‘The really good idea is always traceable back quite a long way, often to a not very good idea which sparked off another idea that was only slightly better, which somebody else misunderstood in such a way that they then said something which was really rather interesting.’
‘If you want creative workers, give them enough time to play.’
‘I have several times made a poor choice by avoiding a necessary confrontation.’
‘I think that money spoils most things, once it becomes the primary motivating force.’
‘A wonderful thing about true laughter is that it just destroys any kind of system of dividing people.’
‘I’m not saying Obama is right on everything. Of course not. He may be wrong on a number of things. But what I do know is that he behaves like a very, very sane man almost all the time.’
‘Now most people do not want an ordinary life in which they do a job well, earn the respect of their collaborators and competitors, bring up a family and have friends. That’s not enough anymore, and I think that is absolutely tragic – and I’m not exaggerating – that people feel like a decent, ordinary, fun life is no longer enough.’
Today I’m recommending my absolute favourite band McBusted. You may not have heard of them as they are a British band who mostly tour around England, Scotland and Ireland. They have been a band for a little over a year and have a MASSIVE following since they are a combination of two former bands, McFly and Busted.
Busted broke up around 10 years ago after being one of the most popular bands in both England and America at the time. They managed to realise two albums and consisted of Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson. The band broke up when Charlie realised he wasn’t enjoying being in the band and he decided to pursue his career in a different band, Fightstar. Charlie now works on his solo career and so has decided not to be a part of McBusted.
Having always worked closely with Busted, and its members, McFly are similar in their approach and style of music. They have been a band for little over 10 years, they haven’t ended or broken up, they have only put their music on hold while McBusted is doing it’s thing since this opportunity came about rather suddenly and they couldn’t miss it. They were my favourite band prior to McBusted and are made up of Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher (whose YouTube channel I recommended last week), Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.
When James, Matt, Danny, Tom, Harry and Dougie announced that they were forming McBusted they released their first tour fearing that very little would happen and that people wouldn’t want to see them. Instead their shows sold out in the first few hours and all subsequent shows since have sold incredibly fast too. What was thought to be a stand –alone tour has turned into an album and a second tour thus far. So due to the demand and success of the first tour, the boys have just released their self-titled debut album (on the 1st December 2014) which probably holds some of their best music to date, and have been promoting that this past month. Next they’re going on tour this spring, in March and April, showcasing their new album and some of the McFly and Busted classics.
If you haven’t heard either of the three bands I have mentioned in this blog post, please check them out as they have created some really great music and in addition are some of the most down-to-earth people in this planet. Also, even though Charlie Simpson isn’t a member of McBusted, don’t neglect to take a look at his solo stuff and his Fightstar stuff.
Ps. I must apologise for not posting last Friday (Boxing Day) since I didn’t have anything to post and I sort of ran out of time. Sorry! Hope you had a great Christmas!
In England, and perhaps for many across the world, it is once again the time of year where we remember those who have fallen and wear a poppy to show our support of those dead from war and of those still fighting wars.
For those who are not familiar with the Remembrance Day tradition, it is a day ‘to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts’. Traditionally, Remembrance Day is celebrated on the closest Sunday to the 11th of November but two minute silences are held on both the Sunday and on the 11th, known as Armistice Day. The Nation takes the time around the 11th of November to create memorials, lay and wear poppies which are sold to raise money for The Royal British Legion (which provide welfare for our service men and women, veterans, and their families).
It always makes me incredibly proud to see the effort that everyone puts into showing respect during this time and along with many, I will be having a two minute silence at 11am tomorrow with my poppy proudly displayed.
The reason for this blog post is that I find Remembrance day extremely important and a day that deserves so much respect as do the men and women it commemorates. I could not have posted any other blog so close to the 11th of November.
First, Shampoo. I’ve been using the Anovia Head On Detangling Shampoo. It’s a wonderful product as it is so easy to lather and then to wash out so that you get the cleanest hair and no horrible residue. It treats the hair as well since it has tea tree oil in the formula. If I’m not using this shampoo I tend to use Head and Shoulders for the same reasons.
Conditioner. I don’t use conditioner often because to be honest, I don’t feel like I need to. When I do use it though, I’ve been using the Wilko’s Fruits Rhubarb and Vanilla conditioner. I love the smell and I love the whole Fruits range which is why I have a lot of it.
Shower Gel. At the moment I’ve been alternating between two Fruits shower gels. The Strawberry and Pomegranate one and the Lemon and Black Pepper one. The scents are so strong but not in an overpowering way. They’re just so delicious. The Fruits range are currently 3 for £3, so they’re a good bargain too.
So far, these tend to be my typical shower products but recently I’ve found or been given some hotel ‘freebies’. First I have two from a London hotel, I think, it doesn’t say on the bottles, and I’ve got a body wash and a shampoo. They’re Refresh products ‘enriched with natural extracts of Aloe Vera’ and I have to say they’re quite good. The next three are from Letoonia Resorts (in Turkey I think) and I was given these by my grandma. I have a shampoo, a shower gel and a hair conditioner. Once again, these work pretty well and I’ve had no complaints from any of my hotel ‘goodies’.
