Quote: Avril Lavigne

Standard

‘Life is like a roller coaster, live it, be happy, enjoy life.’

‘Well, a lot of people don’t know this about me, but I’m actually shy around people avril-lavigne-latest-wallpapers-6I don’t know. I would just say with my first concert, my first tour, I didn’t really talk onstage. I was like, ‘Thank you, I love you guys,’ or whatever. But now I’ve just kind of learned to work a crowd.’

‘You get built up and put on a pedestal and then people want to bring you down. It can be hurtful. Some people try to make me look bad or not a nice person but it’s completely false.’

‘Why should I care what other people think of me? I am who I am. And who I wanna be.’

‘I have always looked for ways to give back because I think it’s a responsibility we all share.’

‘I’m very free-spirited and crazy. I love to have fun, and I like doing stupid things. At the same time, I’m like a 35-year-old. I have a house. I have a car. I have a steady job. I have a business, and I have to make serious decisions.’

‘I don’t believe war is a way to solve problems. I think it’s wrong. I don’t have respect for the people that made the decisions to go on with war. I don’t have that much respect for Bush. He’s about war, I’m not about war – a lot of people aren’t about war.’

‘I’m very comfortable with how I look. I always have been. I think I look pretty good. There’s nothing I want to change. I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got.’

‘I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it.’

YouTube: Carrie, Tom and Gi Fletcher

Standard

tomToday, I’m recommending three youtube channels at once. ‘Why?’ you ask… because these three channels are very similar and because the three people are related and between them conduct the series ‘Dear Tom, Dear Gi, Dear Carrie’.

Tom Fletcher is an English musician from the popular bands, and my favourite bands, McFly and McBusted. His sister is Carrie Hope Fletcher and carrieshe became a fairly popular YouTuber and so, following in her footsteps, Tom started to update his YouTube channel regularly. Soon to join the YouTube bandwagon was Giovanna Fletcher, a published author, Tom’s wife and Carrie’s sister-in-law.

The three of them, in their ‘Dear…’ series, each post a video once a week updating each other on the events of their lives in the past week or two while asking questions to the other person. Tom usually talks about McBusted and life in a giband, Carrie usually talks about her job and the wonderful opportunities she gets through being both a YouTuber and a cast member of Les Miserables in the West End and Gi usually talks about writing, or being a mother.

Now individually, their channels are brilliant. I genuinely love watching their videos so much. All three of them are so down-to-earth and get to do these amazing things.

Tom Fletcher. Musician. His videos are usually sit-down vlogs but he also has built lego, drawn disney characters, sung covers both with Gi and on his own as well as follow-me-around vlogs on video shoots and days out with his son Buzz. Tom is also known for his viral ‘Wedding Speech’ video.

Carrie Hope Fletcher. Musician. Writer. Actress. Blogger. Vlogger. YouTuber. A very talented young lady, Carrie is not only a very successful YouTuber, she also plays one of the lead roles in Les Miserables as Eponine as her day job. She also is currently touring around the UK on ‘The War of the Worlds’ tour. In 2015, she realises her first book. Her videos include; sit-down vlogs, follow-me-around vlogs, music covers, booktube videos and tag videos.

Lastly, Giovanna Fletcher. Actress. Writer. Gi, like Tom, trained as an actor. Although, she really enjoys acting she found her forte in writing and she now has two novels and a novella to her name.

Check out their channels and enjoy!

Film and TV: Black Books

Standard

Black BooksToday I want to recommend a TV series. Black Books aired between 2000 and 2004, it starred Dylan Moran (Shaun of the Dead, Comedian), Bill Bailey (Hustle, Doctor Who, Nanny McPhee) and Tamsin Greig (Episodes, Doctor Who, Shaun of the Dead) and lasted three series. Not only did Moran star in it, he created and wrote the show too. I used to watch this programme a few years ago when it was shown on the channel Dave and I recently bought all three series on DVD. Like ‘After You’ve Gone’ that I reviewed perhaps a month ago, it isn’t a serious programme and it provides light entertainment. It’s the type of show where, again like After You’ve Gone, you can get attached to the characters while leaving it on in the background as each new episode is a new story rather than a continuous arc. I tend to watch this programme at night before I go to sleep. It’s just a nice way to end the day.

I found a brief synopsis of the show on the imdb website, it was written by P.H. Moo: ‘Bernard Black runs his own bookshop even though he doesn’t much like people who buy books and hates having customers. Next door to Bernard’s shop is the Nifty Gifty gift shop run by Fran, probably Bernard’s only friend in the world. When Bernard’s accountant goes on the run Bernard employs stress victim, Manny to help in his shop. This leads to a series of surreal adventures around the shop.’

TV Show: After You’ve Gone

After You've Gone

Today I want to recommend a TV series. After You’ve Gone was a BBC Sitcom that aired in 2007 and 2008 in the length of 3 series of 7 – 8 episodes. I loved this series when it was on TV and I was gutted when it got cancelled so I recently bought the DVDs. It’s comic quality paired with great actors; Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools and Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart), Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones Diary, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace), Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker, Dani’s House), Amanda Abbington (Sherlock, Mr Selfridge) and Ryan Sampson (The Things I haven’t Told You, Doctor Who) to name a few, creates a really simple yet clever show that provides light entertainment. It is the type of show where you can get attached to the characters while leaving it on in the background as each new episode is a new story rather than a continuous arc.
