Book: The Glam Guide by FleurDeForce

Standard

812wXX2k9+LYouTube and the YouTube culture has increased dramatically in the last two years with many popular YouTubers being accepted into mainstream entertainment. With this has come the opportunity for many individuals on the platform to write and publish their own books in conjunction to their channels.

Now being a fan of many YouTubers myself, I have bought and read the books of some of my favourite YouTubers. Today I’m recommending Fleur De Force’s The Glam Guide.

Fleur De Force, who I have recommended on my blog before, is a beauty and lifestyle blogger and YouTuber online. She posts videos on beauty products, tutorials, reviews and fashion on her main channel, daily vlogs on her second channel and recipes and cooking on her food channel which she does with her husband, Mike, in connection to Sainsbury’s.20150406_124010

From this, she decided to write a book with the main purpose to inform and teach people about make-up and her recommended techniques and tips. The Glam Guide goes through beauty, hair, fashion, travel, health and fitness, life, love, YouTube and blogging and is very much the epitome of Fleur and her presence online.

Having an interest in beauty is pretty much necessary as a reason to pick up the book but The Glam Guide offers a lot more than that. It includes first date advice, confidence tips and motiv54db5507ec92dation; it includes recipes for juices and smoothies and a section on dreams and what they mean. All of this was deeply interesting to me and I really enjoyed reading it. Additionally, being a massive fan of Fleur I enjoyed seeing her voice throughout and especially reading the note to her subscribers at the very end of the book.

I saw myself reaching for the book at every opportunity that I could. Part of this was because of Fleur’s voice throughout but also the overall care and attention that this book has been privy to throughout its making is just so evident and it means so much more to read it. I just think it is beautifully laid out and has incredible illustrations.

I hope you check out Fleur and her channels and if The Glam Guide appeals to you, that you check that out too!

YouTube: A Model Recommends

Standard

ruth-crilly-10Ruth Crilly, known as A Model Recommends on YouTube, is a blogger, YouTube personality and model. As a professional model, she knows about products for face, body and hair and through YouTube, she aims to recommend products and pass on her knowledge.

Ruth posts challenges, recommendations, reviews, follow-me-around vlogs, and sit down vlogs, TAGS, favourites and haul videos.

I enjoy her videos so much and I think her channel is down-to-earth and classy and is a perfect insight into the modelling industry as well as ordinary make-up guru life. Here are some examples of Ruth’s videos:

P.S. I would like to apologise for missing Wednesday’s post without a warning beforehand. Without making too much of an excuse I spent Wednesday frantically finishing my coursework for the following morning’s deadline. Thank you for your patience.

Beauty and Hair: Argan Oil Heat Protectant

Standard

Argan OilHello, I am back with today’s hair/beauty recommendation. Hopefully, we all know how important heat protectant is for your hair when you heat style or blow-dry. I use Argan Oil Heat Defence Leave In Spray.

This product is wonderful. Not only does it protect your hair from the damage caused by curlers, straighteners and hair dryers, it also makes your hair healthier as the ‘moroccan argan oil extract’ is ‘hydrating, nourishing and cleansing’ or so the packaging states. I couldn’t agree more. This product makes your hair brighter, softer and shinier and so overall healthier.

I also managed to pick up this product for about £1 – £1.99 in a local PoundStretcher – such a bargain!

Beauty: Bristows Dry Shampoo

Close Up Dry ShampooLet’s talk about something hair related once again…

Today I want to recommend Bristow’s Dry Shampoo. I usually use Batiste Dry Shampoo, but I thought I’d give this one a try as it was slightly cheaper. For me, it works just as good if not better. The product can be used  to refresh your hair between washes or to give your hair some more volume. The way to use the product is by spraying it at the roots in the areas that usually become greasy first, or are greasy, and work the product in with your hands. Often the product will leave a white, powdery residue which will need to be rubbed into the hair and roots. After you have done this, take a comb and comb through your hair. Not only will this now neaten the hair you’ve probably messed up but it also continues to rub it in and remove any excess product. I found this product in PoundStretcher recently and it only cost me a pound! Well worth that money for sure! Great brand, great product, great price.

Beauty and Hair: Bristow’s Shine Spray

Standard

Shine Spray Close UpLet’s talk about something hair related…

Today I want to recommend Bristow’s Shine Gloss Booster. This product basically gives your hair a much shinier look as soon as you use it. The product works as a spray, you can use as much or as little as you like. I tend to use this on wet or dry hair by just spraying on the top and underneath of my hair, I then take a brush or a comb and work the product through my hair and leave it to dry. As soon as it is dry there are noticeable results. My friends and my family have noticed my shinier hair when I use the shine spray and I know it gives my hair a much healthier and alive appearance. It also helps tame frizz and leaves the hair super soft and what makes it even better is that I found this in Poundland, so it only cost me a pound! A pound for such a renowned brand and a great product = perfect.
