This Valentine’s weekend, I saw Deadpool at cinemas. ‘Crashing’ a friends Valentine’s date, I sat with five of my friends in the packed screening, feeling like I was the least excited out of all of them. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to see Deadpool, but since I love X-men and Marvel as they are, I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy Deadpool quite as much. It was going to be a little different and I didn’t know what to expect.
Fortunately, I truly loved the film. Its fourth-wall breaking humour was spectacular and made it such a unique film. Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool was on point – no better way to say it. He really made the character.
For the few of you reading who are not familiar with Marvel’s Deadpool character here is a little summary from IMDB about the film: ‘This is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.’
However, this film is a love story. Of course, that is part of the joke of Deadpool being released Valentine’s weekend, but I found this a really lovely part of the film too.
The cast were great; I’ve already mentioned Ryan Reynolds, but here are some of the other brilliant actors who made the film what it is: Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Ed Skrein, Stefan Kapicic, Brianna Hildebrand and T.J.Miller.
Here’s the trailer:

‘I’m an actor. If you had said to me before I started acting that I’d get two bites of the cherry – you would do things that people will remember forever like ‘The Brothers’ which I did in the ’70s and now ‘Doctor Who’ – I’d have been overjoyed and I still am.’
‘As any actor will tell you, the hardest thing to do is small parts, because you focus all your attention and concentration on that small part. When you’re playing the lead part, you don’t have time to think about the whole of it, so you just have to steam on and get on with it.’
‘One way of watering down the effects of violence is to approach it in a more light-hearted way. I don’t mean to say that you laugh when somebody has their arm sawn off, but you can diffuse fear with humour.’
‘I could, I think, quite easily have gone to Oxford. I got four good A levels, but my father’s income was such that I wouldn’t have got a grant, and he wouldn’t let me go to university, and that was the end of it.’
‘I’ve mellowed quite quickly.’
‘If you turn down work because you are frightened of getting typecast, you’ll never do anything good.’
TOP 5 Favourite Videos right now:
Since I usually recommend people or channels, I figured I’d do something different for this YouTube recommendation and instead give a Top 5 of the videos I have been loving recently.
1 – Wheezy Waiter’s video ‘? (1000)’
It is such a beautiful video which not only is his 1000th video but is also his proposal to his long-term girlfriend Chyna.
2 – Carrie’s video on ‘The Friend Zone’
Carrie does a wide range of videos, but some of my favourites are her ‘advice’ videos or discussion type videos like this one.
3 – Jimmy’s video on Sexual Abuse.
I usually love Jimmy’s videos regardless of what they are and often because they are comical but in this case Jimmy gets very serious and talks about Sexual Abuse on YouTube. I enjoy this video because I feel like it deals well in commenting on a situation that is very prevalent in the YouTube community at this current time.
4 – The Best of Suits|Humor
I love the programme Suits so much and this video demonstrates some of the reasons why. If you love Suits too you should check the video out. It is well edited and put to great music.
5 – Tanya’s Halloween Night In
I love daily vlogs and right now, I love Tanya’s the most. I watched this video earlier today and I just think it was so casual and so relaxed it was great.
Happy Wednesday everyone! We’re half way through the week!
Today I want to recommend a youtuber who deserves more subscribers than he has. Jimmy0010, or James Hill, has only 78, 725 subscribers on his personal YouTube channel and yet, his humour and creativity lends itself to the masses. He does a range of different videos including Q&As, advice, cooking, skits and vlogs, he does it all… and he isn’t always on his own as he has collaborated with some of the best British Vloggers on YouTube such as the likes of Crabsticks, ItsWayPastMyBedTime, Alex Day and Charlie McDonnell.
On the ‘about’ section of Jimmy’s Youtube Channel, this is his personal blurb: ‘Hi, I’m Jimmy and welcome to my channel Jimmy0010. I’m a YouTuber, presenter and writer, I’ve presented on a few different shows, and at the moment you can catch me on ‘The 4:01 Show’ or the YouTube music series Transmitter. Here on my channel you’ll find videos of me just messing around, answering your questions and sometimes trying to give a bit of advice.’
Here are some examples of his work:
PS. Just a little extra info, Jimmy is the most recent person I’ve subscribed to on YouTube and I literally binge watched tonnes of his videos after I did.
