TV: Top 5 Favourites

Standard

This week I don’t just want to rave about one TV show, so here are my top 5 favourites of right now:

1. NCIS

My entire household loves NCIS, that’s me, my parents and my granddad, and a lot of my friends also watch NCIS avidly. ncis-cast-featuredWe’ve been watching odd episodes here and there on several TV channels  and now my Dad has recently purchased Seasons 1 – 8 on DVD so that we can finally watch them in order. I think one reason why the show is so good is because of its characters; their relationships are what keep the audience interested after all.

2.Death_in_Paradise_series_3___what_did_you_think_ Death in Paradise.

This is a brilliant BBC One show. It’s set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint-Marie and is currently into its fourth season. The show follows the islands police and homicide detectives who solve various dghmurders. Again, I think the characters are what keep the audience watching.

3. Suits

This show is so flawlessly put together with an amazing cast displayed so stylishly that it’s hard not to be enthralled in it. It is a very popular show but if you are in the minority and don’t know what it’s about, it follows corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his relationship with fraudulent lawyer Mike Ross.

4. Happy Endings.happy-endings-abc

I feel like this show has been underrated and thus only spanned three seasons from 2011 until 2013. It is staged alike popular shows such as Friends, and How I Met Your Mother, with a cast of six friends following their various relationships and comic problems. I enjoy thisBuffy-the-Vampire-Slayer-buffy-the-vampire-slayer-182338_446_600 show so much and as thus have been trying to buy the seasons on DVD.

5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

My final recommendation today is, of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I couldn’t not mention Buffy as it will always be my favourite TV Show. Although it has been little over a decade since Joss Whedon ended the series, it is never too late to start watching it. I remember when I was a lot younger, that I watched Buffy with my Dad but I was too young to fully comprehend what I was actually watching. So, when my Dad bought the series, I started to watch it all in order and fell in love with it. I love the concept and the characters and I just think it’s a seamless mix of horror and comedy with that ninety’s/noughties feel and for me it’s the perfect show.

sarah-michelle-gellar-06 ‘Normal is such a hard word to use, because everyone’s idea of normal is different. Real is what the word is. I think you either live a real life or you live a weird celebrity pseudolife. I think I lead a really real life’.

‘Ultimately you want to do something in life that people will remember. And with Buffy, I did that. I don’t feel like I need to achieve something. I just do it because it’s fun. And that takes the pressure off’.

‘My biggest complaint is school when it’s Send-the-roses day. Somebody’s always left out. I always got roses, but I would give them to someone who hadn’t gotten any’.

‘I am militant about drugs. You want to do ’em? You’re out of my life’.

‘I don’t call myself a feminist because feminism has a negative connotation. It makes you think of women who don’t shave their legs. But feminism is not just about not being weak. It’s about being able to take care of yourself. Just because you might care about what you look like or what the opposite sex thinks of you, it doesn’t make you not a feminist, although it’s a word I hate. Do I consider myself a strong female individual? Uh-huh. Can I take care of myself? Yes.’

‘You’ll never know what you’re capable of if you don’t try’.

sarah-michelle-gellar-chanel-dinner-at-tribeca-hq-12-1500‘To me, the scariest elements of horror films are the things that could really happen. And what is more scary than high school? … What I like about the show [Buffy the Vampire Slayer] is that it reminds you it’s O.K. to be different. What people think isn’t necessarily true. If people walk away with half of that, we’ve done our job’.

‘I have good friends, gay couples, who’ve been together for 18 years. It drives me crazy that in the eyes of the law, their love isn’t acknowledged when I have girlfriends who have married four times by the age of 25’.

‘I think the best piece of advice I’ve ever gotten is to trust myself and go for my dreams. I got that from my mom’.

‘I love books. I’m constantly afraid we’re moving into this digital era where books are going to go away, and to me books are the basis to everything in life. Reading is how we function. It’s not just creative imagination and creative play, it’s how we function as human beings, as human adults, and if you can instil that at a young age then that’s a skill they’ll have for life’.
