What I’m reading – I am currently reading Paper Towns by John Green. I thoroughly enjoyed the film so I thought I would pick up the novel. The story is about a girl named Margo Roth Spiegelman and her neighbour Quentin Jacobsen. The blurb reads as follows: ‘Quentin Jacobsen has always loved Margo from afar. So when she climbs through his window to summon him on an all-night road trip of revenge he cannot help but follow. But the next morning, Q turns up at school and Margo doesn’t. She’s left clues to her disappearance, like a trail of breadcrumbs for Q to follow’.
What I’m watching – With the university year finished, an abundance of time and very little to do, I have taken to watching a lot of TV. Currently I am watching Friends, 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Big Bang Theory. All three I would recommend, especially if what you’re after is a light watch which you don’t have to put a lot of energy or concentration into.
What I’m listening to – Plastic by Nina Karolidou, Like I Would by Zayn, My Demons by Starset, Bulletproof by Young Guns, Give Up by Once Upon a Dead Man and MFT80s by Chris Bourne. Further proof of my very eclectic music taste…
What I’m eating – STIR FRY. I think I’m obsessed with Stir Fry… is that weird? At least it’s healthy and easy to make. I make stir fry with cabbage, pepper, onion, broccoli and carrots with either rice noodles, cous cous or rice. I’m a vegetarian so I don’t add meat.
What I’m quoting – ‘In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.’ -Nikos Kazantzakis
Today I’m recommending Ingrid Nilsen. If you’re eagle eyed or have been paying attention to my blog for long enough, you’ll know that I have actually recommended her YouTube channel, Miss Glamorazzi, before but since then she has updated her second channel and uses that on a regular basis too. Therefore, I’m revisiting my previous recommendation (which you can find here) and adding to it.
Just as a brief explanation if you don’t know who Ingrid Nilsen is. She is a beauty guru on YouTube who, on her main channel, posts videos about beauty, make-up and fashion and on her second channel, which I am recommending most today, she posts vlog-style videos.
On her second channel, TheGridMonster, Ingrid tended to post vlogs of all varieties, sometimes sit-down, sometimes follow-me-around daily vlogs, in the past. Not to say that this has stopped but rather the channel has undergone some renovation, let’s say. The channel is now regularly used for the uploads of a weekly series called 5 Minutes For Us. I think it’s such a great series and really talks about issues and topics in a very mature and real way. These videos are just so honest and I love that every episode is different and tackles different types of issues and so forth.
Here are a couple examples:
I want to mention this because I think it’s important: Ingrid stormed the internet with her inspiring coming out video. Not only has Ingrid become one of the first popular female and first Beauty Guru (as far as I know) to come out, she has also provided a video with a strong message, a message that everyone should have their best chance in life and just be them. Be proud to be you. Don’t apologise for being you. It doesn’t matter, like REALLY doesn’t matter, what your sexual orientation is, full stop, but it also doesn’t matter what your orientation is for you to find the video encouraging and for the message to be relevant. To see for yourself, the video is below:
Soniastravels is Sonia Gil’s YouTube channel. She updates weekly with travel tips like what equipment you should buy to travel with such as bags and suitcases, to take when you travel such as outfits and shoes or electronic goods. But if it’s not a tip video, it’ll be a video recommending a country or a city or just Sonia taking you around and showing you the things you can do in that place.
I’ve found these videos interesting and well, informative. It’s definitely made me want to travel to more places and has told me a lot about the different cultures across the world.
Sonia’s about page says this; ‘Travel around the globe with Sonia Gil! From Milan to Miami, Sonia cracks the secret codes of the world’s coolest cities in this award-winning series. Learn new travel tips and tricks, and share your own, in Sonia’s vlog. New shows every Thursday!’
Now for some examples:
Today I want to recommend MissGlamorazzi. Ingrid Nilsen is a make-up guru and vlogger on YouTube. Like many of the YouTubers I’ve recommended she’s been on the website sharing her videos since the very early years. This is her channel’s ‘blurb’; ‘Oh, hello! I’m Ingrid Nilsen and welcome to my little internet oasis! Get ready for beauty, fashion and healthy food how-to’s with a sprinkle of weird. The good kind of weird. I pinky promise!’ She also has a DIY series that she has called GIY – Glam it yourself. These are super unique and cute How to’s. I’ll have a couple as examples below.
Ingrid is a beautiful human being both inside and out. She is honestly the most down to earth and kind person I’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing and therefore you should visit her channel because she’ll most definitely brighten your day. She also recently won a Streamy Award and blew everyone away with her inspiring speech!
Again I’m keeping this brief so that I can give you a lot of examples of her videos instead, enjoy!

Today’s YouTube recommendation is Strawburry17. Meghan Camarena has been a YouTuber since late 2007 and since then her channel has gone through some massive changes, starting with random vlogs, to music videos to her daily show that she now has. Over the years, Meghan has worked hard on her channel and now she’s been able to raise enough money and save enough money through her own hard work, her YouTube career and sponsorship, to now make high production high quality videos with the help of her own team of friends and interns.
There is little more to say, except for how much I love Meghan. Her channel has received some negativity as it changes and she deserves a new group of people, from you guys, to go and give her fresh positivity. She has a vlog channel where she is more personal with her subscribers and she is so honest and so kind that it’s worth taking a look at that too.
Excuse my ramble, and enjoy some examples of her main channel videos:

Good Mythical Morning is a YouTube Show that airs every week day and is hosted by Rhett McLaughlin and Charles Lincoln ‘Link’ Neal, more commonly known as Rhett and Link. The duo have several channels including their own music channel, Rhett and Link, their morning show, Good Mythical Morning and their ‘extra’ morning show channel Good Mythical MORE.
I’ve watched Rhett and Link on their music channel for years, and these videos continue to get crazier and more hilarious as well as more professional with each new video now being made with an entire cast, an entire crew and on a huge production scale. From this, the pair created their morning show, which when it first started was also a very small production with the two of them just having a chat. Now the show, still very casual, has its own set (in the LA YouTube space I assume) and its own crew of interns.
It is this show that I would like to recommend. This is because I have been watching it every week day since I’ve been on my summer holiday and it has become the one channel I eagerly await an upload from, it is also a show that I miss on the weekends as they don’t post on Saturdays or Sundays.
I think Rhett and Link are awesome; they’re very good friends and have known each other since school, so this helps. Their show has become structured in that they do certain things on certain days. But mostly they discuss random topics and it’s still very informal with the interns constantly asked to step in front of the camera instead of just working behind the scenes. This isn’t to say that they don’t do higher budget stuff; recently they had Daniel Radcliffe on as a guest to promote his new film and he enjoyed joining in with their crazy antics.
‘We are Rhett & Link and this is our daily morning talk show, Good Mythical Morning.
Check out our main channel for funny music videos, sketches, and ridiculous local commercials: http://youtube.com/rhettandlink
Our website has music, merch, and more: RhettandLink.com’
Today’s YouTube recommendation is Nanalew. Shawna Howson has been a YouTuber since late 2007 and she has never looked back, as her YouTube career is now leading her towards the creation of her short film. With 556, 384 subscribers, she is probably another YouTuber who deserves more than subs than she has, especially as when her film is finished, she’ll need more people to watch it.
Her channel has evolved over the years, as expected, as she used to do more skit type videos and now does more music video type videos. Throughout all of the years though, she has been a prominent vlogger and was once part of the well-known collab channel Vlogvetica, where she vlogged about her life for the benefit of her collaborators; Meekakitty, Catrific (both of whom I have recommended on previous Wednesdays), Mitchell Davis (of LiveLavaLive) and Dan Brown (of Pogobat).
Here are a few examples of her videos:

Today’s YouTube recommendation is Catrific. Catherine Valdes, more commonly known as Cat or Catrific, is another YouTuber who, with 504,866 subscribers, deserves mores subscribers than she has. Her channel is home to a vast majority of different videos including vlogs, challenges, Q&As and the occasional music video. Catrific has also been making an on-going psychology series based on the psychology of personalities.
Along with her varying videos and her amazing personality, she has also collaborated with a lot of well-known and popular YouTubers who happen to be some of her best friends. These people include Joey Graceffa, FleurDeForce, iJustine, Strawburry17, Shane Dawson, Amazing Phil, DanIsNotOnFire and MissGlamorazzi to name only a few.
Here are a few examples of her videos:
Happy Wednesday everyone! We’re half way through the week!
Today I want to recommend a youtuber who deserves more subscribers than he has. Jimmy0010, or James Hill, has only 78, 725 subscribers on his personal YouTube channel and yet, his humour and creativity lends itself to the masses. He does a range of different videos including Q&As, advice, cooking, skits and vlogs, he does it all… and he isn’t always on his own as he has collaborated with some of the best British Vloggers on YouTube such as the likes of Crabsticks, ItsWayPastMyBedTime, Alex Day and Charlie McDonnell.
On the ‘about’ section of Jimmy’s Youtube Channel, this is his personal blurb: ‘Hi, I’m Jimmy and welcome to my channel Jimmy0010. I’m a YouTuber, presenter and writer, I’ve presented on a few different shows, and at the moment you can catch me on ‘The 4:01 Show’ or the YouTube music series Transmitter. Here on my channel you’ll find videos of me just messing around, answering your questions and sometimes trying to give a bit of advice.’
Here are some examples of his work:
PS. Just a little extra info, Jimmy is the most recent person I’ve subscribed to on YouTube and I literally binge watched tonnes of his videos after I did.
