What I’m

Standard

 mortalinstruments3_zpsd2942061
Today’s blog is a bit different to usual. This is a new concept I’m trying out in preparation for September when school starts again. I think it could be really helpful for me when I have very little time to recommend something completely or for those rare times when I run out of things to say. What this concept is, which I’m naming ‘What I’m…’, is like a regular favourites’ blog which a lot of other online personalities do. I hope you like it and support my idea.

What I’m reading – Currently I’m reading The Mortal Instruments Series written by Cassandra Clare. I’m on the 3rd book City of Glass and loving it tremendously. The series is reminiscent of some of my favourite books and interests. It is about a group of young adults in a fantastical world of werewolves, vampires, faeries, warlocks and a race of Shadowhunters, descended from Angels, as they step forward into a time of war, uncertainty and danger.

What I’m watching – Over the past month or so, my Dad and I have been watching through all of the James Bond films, having finished Sean Connery, George Lazenby and Roger Moore’s variants of the character, we’re now onto Timothy Dalton’s License to Kill.James-Bonds-600x300

What I’m listening to – Following on from what I’m watching, what I’m listening to is the music from James Bond, this includes tracks such as Garbage’s The World Is Not Enough and Louis Armstrong’s We Have All The Time In The World to Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger and a-ha’s The Living Daylights.Screen-shot-2015-05-12-at-21.29.36

More specifically though, I’ve been enjoying Corey Gray’s cover of The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face and EofE’s new song Get Caught.

What I’m eating – I tried the new Haribo Tangfastics Frenzy Edition sweets this week and they were delicious. Very sour (just how I like my sweets) and very interesting with new flavours including Watermelon, Pomegranate and Mango.

What I’m quoting – ‘You are the light of the world. A city that is on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven.’ Matthew 5:14-16

Food and Sweets: Millions Vs. Nanobytes

Standard

DSC07767 DSC07770Two weeks ago I compared Warheads to Toxic Waste while recommending both. I am again doing a similar thing but comparing Millions and their assumed successor Nanobytes.

Both sweets are exactly the same and at the moment are both equally rare to find, at least for me. I could only find Millions in Poundland when I was looking recently and they weren’t even in my local Co-op store and Nanobytes, well honestly, I’ve never seen in a shop as I have only received them as free gifts in two different issues of Shout Magazine.

They’re both ‘tiny tasty chewy sweets’ made with ‘real fruit juice’ with ‘no artificial colours’ and are both suitable for vegetarians like myself.

They’re just delicious chewy sweets and I recommend both.

P.S. I realise this was a kind of random and short post, I just wanted to explain that there is another pair of sweets that are basically the same and how much I like both.

Food: Warheads (Vs. Toxic Waste)

Standard

packetSo today… I’m recommending/reviewing the American sour candy Warheads.

WarheadsFrom watching people on YouTube I became familiar with hearing about the sour sweet Warheads. I always wondered what they were like and how sour they were. I managed to find them in a small sweet shop in Gainsborough’s Marshalls Yard. They cost £1.99 which isn’t bad, especially considering that they are American and are pretty rare in our country. Anyway… I couldSweet save your money by telling you that they are exactly like our English sour sweet, Toxic Waste. I’m not complaining, I like that Warheads are basically the same, I like them, but in future I’ll buy Toxic Waste for £1 instead. They have the exact same flavours, the same look and shape, the same packaging. The only difference I could find is that Warheads are in a larger ordinary packet and Toxic Waste are in a plastic container resembling that of cartoon Toxic Waste barrel.

So for Americans, I do recommend Warheads if you want a good, strong, sour sweet and for those of you who are English, I recommend Toxic Waste if you also want a good, strong, sour sweet.

P.S. Sour sweets are my favourites.

Food: Marvellous Mix Ups with Maynards

Standard

DSC07665Today, I’m going to do something a tiny bit different… Last week I recommended Cadbury’s Marvellous Mix Ups With Oreo and in that I said that I hadn’t tried the With Maynards version. So this week, with both packets still on special offer I’ve decided to try the Maynards version and write up my reaction here.

Without opening the packet, my initial reaction to the involvement of sweets is a negative one as I don’t like the combination of sweets and chocolate. This was proved when I tried Cadbury’s Marvellous Creations with the Jelly pieces inside, I thought that was awful. Fortunately, the sweets in this case are not masked within the chocolate and I don’t have to eat them with the chocolate.

What’s inside?

  1. Cadbury’s caramel nibbles
  2. Maynard’s Jellies (Several Varieties)
  3. Cadbury’s Fudge Dream

DSC07668I’ve now opened the packet… It smells nice and the sweets/chocolates within are a lot bigger than I expected. I’ve started with trying the sweets, they’re quite nice. Onto the caramel nibbles, delicious! I’ve always love these. Time for the Fudge… normally, I’m not great with Fudge; I like some but not most. That’s delicious too!

I’m genuinely surprised at how good these are! Even the combination of the sweets and the chocolate is good, something I was definitely not expecting. I honestly recommend these…  What I thought would only be a reaction blog turned out to be another recommendation… awesome.

Enjoy!
