Today I’m recommending model and YouTuber Ruth Crilly. Ruth has ‘been an international fashion model for over ten years’. Her YouTube channel, A Model Recommends, contains beauty, style and lifestyle videos. She posts make-up tutorials, hauls, monthly favourites and vlog style videos on a regular basis. Recently Ruth had a baby who can be seen in her vlogs and baby related reviews, products and videos have been seen throughout Ruth’s more recent videos.
I really enjoy Ruth’s videos, especially her vlogs, since it’s really interesting to follow a model around and hear her hints and tips. Additionally Ruth is a really nice, down to earth woman who is committed to giving honest reviews and information. Here are some of Ruth’s videos:
Today I’m recommending Carrie Hope Fletcher, and yes, you may be thinking I’ve already recommended her YouTube channel in the past but that was in connection to Tom and Giovanna Fletcher’s channels too (See that post here).
Carrie has been on YouTube for many years now and, through her honesty, her genuinely lovely character and her positivity, has been able to build a successful following online. Her videos are in a sit-down vlog style but occasionally Carrie will post a follow-me-around ‘daily’ vlog. Topics within her videos include Disney, covers of songs, her life and her work, her writing and general discussions and mini ‘motivational’ speeches.
Carrie is a very talented young lady with an amazing voice which she uses to sing covers, create original songs and for a living; she works playing Eponine in the West End’s Les Miserables. On top of this, Carrie is a published author with her autobiographical non-fiction novel ‘All I know Now’ and she is currently writing her second novel, her first fiction book, ‘On the Other Side’ (which I cannot wait to buy and read).
With little else to say, check out her videos (examples below):
I don’t know whether you have gathered this but I really enjoy YouTube videos and especially those by vloggers. On this topic I wanted to share my TOP 5 Daily Vloggers.
- Fleur DeForce (Second Channel: FleurDeVlog)
Fleur daily vlogs every other month and I really enjoy her videos. I love seeing her family, her husband and her doggies as well as her trips abroad and behind-the-scenes youtube stuff.
- Jim Chapman (Second Channel: EveryDayJim)
Jim posts daily vlogs every week day on his vlog channel. I love seeing his life with Tanya, their new house and Jim’s adventures in London whether that’s for a fashion event, going to a film premiere, returning a pair of shoes for Tanya or even going to the gym.
- Michael Aranda (Second Channel: WhatImDoingRightNow)
Daily vlogs with lots of stats. Michael particularly enjoys his statistics and starts every vlog with a caption in the corner about the weather in Missoula, Montana and stats about his eating out habits and his weight. In his vlogs we see drone footage, his car travels, food explorations and non-too regular gym trips. At the moment, his videos see him juggling work, school (college) and his relationships.
- Jonah Penna
Posting a weekly vlog, Sarah, new mother of one, documents her daily life juggling work, being a mother and being a wife. The channel is named after her son and if you recognise the name Penna, you may well know another YouTube personality MysteryGuitarMan, who just so happens to be Sarah’s husband.
- JLynn Johnston (Second Channel: JLynnCognito)
Although he only daily vlogs once a year during VEDA, his content during that time is really fun to watch. JLynn posts a one-take vlog every day updating people on the events of that day or talking about a certain topic.
Wayne Goss, known as GossMakeupArtist on YouTube, is a professional make-up artist. He posts a video about every three days on his two channels all about make-up techniques and products. On his second channel, GossMakeupChat, he continues to review products and display techniques while also providing personal anecdotes, opinions and general chats on TV shows, films and music.
This is the ‘about’ summary on his main channel so that you can understand a little more of what he does there: ‘Love makeup? Want to improve your makeup skills? Interested in becoming a makeup artist? Or just want honest reviews on the brands you most love. Then welcome to my channel. With 15 years makeup experience I want to share with you everything I’ve learned. By breaking things down into simple, easy manageable segments, even the most complicated looks become easy’.
There is little more to say, but that I think that his videos are wonderful; Wayne is so down-to-earth and so honest. Additionally, his knowledge is so great and his videos give a small insight into the make-up industry. Please take a look at the following videos:
Ruth Crilly, known as A Model Recommends on YouTube, is a blogger, YouTube personality and model. As a professional model, she knows about products for face, body and hair and through YouTube, she aims to recommend products and pass on her knowledge.
Ruth posts challenges, recommendations, reviews, follow-me-around vlogs, and sit down vlogs, TAGS, favourites and haul videos.
I enjoy her videos so much and I think her channel is down-to-earth and classy and is a perfect insight into the modelling industry as well as ordinary make-up guru life. Here are some examples of Ruth’s videos:
P.S. I would like to apologise for missing Wednesday’s post without a warning beforehand. Without making too much of an excuse I spent Wednesday frantically finishing my coursework for the following morning’s deadline. Thank you for your patience.
Today I’m recommending the amazing Michael Aranda and his two (or three if you want to count his gaming channel) YouTube channels. I have been watching his videos for a few years now and I think Michael is such a kind, down-to-earth man who lives life with such positivity.
On his main channel, Michael posts sit-down topic vlogs, music, everyday vlogs during VEDA (Vlog EveryDay in April/August) and super high-quality projects that he works on. On his vlog channel, Michael posts daily videos in the form of follow-me-around vlogs.
I love his videos so much and I think it’s worth the time to check his work out. Here are some examples to entice you further:

It’s Christmas time, there’s no denying that and typically in the run up to the big day, many YouTubers take part in an event called Vlogmas. This means that they take the pledge to vlog daily until the 25th of December. Is this a food recommendation? Or is this a YouTuber recommendation? I think it’ll be both because I want to recommend a wonderful microwave cake recipe, but it’s not mine. I learnt it from Doug Armstrong, a vlogger on YouTube.
Making cakes by using a microwave is not a new invention, but it’s becoming seemingly more popular. Or at least in my opinion it is. Microwave cakes are easier on ingredients, on time and on the portion sizes. You can make a single cake and not have the others lying around to tempt you when you’re feeling peckish.
The recipe is…
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 2 tablespoons of water
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons of plain flour
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, although Caster Sugar can be used instead.
And mix and microwave for approximately 1 minute. This timing may be different for different models and wattages. For 800w, which is what my microwave is, I usually have to microwave the mixture for 1 minute or 1 minute and 10 seconds.
To see this recipe in action, you should visit Doug’s channel and watch the video I’ll add below. You should also subscribe to his channel if you want more delectable treats especially cheesecakes, as these are his favourite. But he doesn’t just bake and make food on his channel, he also does challenges, vlogs, collabs and most popular are his life hacks videos.
Here is his channel ‘about’ blurb: ‘Hey I’m Doug Armstrong, a British vlogger living in London. I like to make fun-filled, creative videos with varying themes inspired by my love for entertainment, food/cooking and music. From Life Hacks and Bacon Pancakes to One Direction parodies and funny challenges, you’ll find a wide array of content centred around my life and I have grand plans this year for bigger & better videos than ever before! Oh and I love cheesecake a lot 😀 Join our community and become a Dougling by clicking the red ‘Subscribe’ button above 🙂 http://Youtube.com/Doug’.
