YouTube: I Read Books In Nightclubs

Standard

UntitledToday I’m recommending the YouTube channel, I Read Books In Nightclubs, belonging to none other than Jonny Vickers, an actor from Aberdeen. As a working West End actor, Jonny’s videos sometimes contain snipets of his working life via daily vlog style videos, but mainly, his videos are ‘devoted to books and his general musings’.

Jonny was a member of the cast during 4600247301The War of the Worlds Arena Tour, where he appeared as the NASA Controller. Starring alongside him was fellow YouTuber and working West End actress, Carrie Hope Fletcher, whom he became good friends with. Not long after did Jonny create his channel and it is actually thanks to Carrie and her videos that I was introduced to Jonny and his channel.

Jonny is such a warm, positive character who has buckets of charm. This makes his videos a joy to watch and it is for that reason alone, his channel is worth sharing and recommending. Additionally, his funny anecdotes, book related videos and general craziness makes his videos so interesting and entertaining.

Here are some examples of his videos:

Take a look and make sure you subscribe to him.

YouTube: Carrie, Tom and Gi Fletcher

Standard

tomToday, I’m recommending three youtube channels at once. ‘Why?’ you ask… because these three channels are very similar and because the three people are related and between them conduct the series ‘Dear Tom, Dear Gi, Dear Carrie’.

Tom Fletcher is an English musician from the popular bands, and my favourite bands, McFly and McBusted. His sister is Carrie Hope Fletcher and carrieshe became a fairly popular YouTuber and so, following in her footsteps, Tom started to update his YouTube channel regularly. Soon to join the YouTube bandwagon was Giovanna Fletcher, a published author, Tom’s wife and Carrie’s sister-in-law.

The three of them, in their ‘Dear…’ series, each post a video once a week updating each other on the events of their lives in the past week or two while asking questions to the other person. Tom usually talks about McBusted and life in a giband, Carrie usually talks about her job and the wonderful opportunities she gets through being both a YouTuber and a cast member of Les Miserables in the West End and Gi usually talks about writing, or being a mother.

Now individually, their channels are brilliant. I genuinely love watching their videos so much. All three of them are so down-to-earth and get to do these amazing things.

Tom Fletcher. Musician. His videos are usually sit-down vlogs but he also has built lego, drawn disney characters, sung covers both with Gi and on his own as well as follow-me-around vlogs on video shoots and days out with his son Buzz. Tom is also known for his viral ‘Wedding Speech’ video.

Carrie Hope Fletcher. Musician. Writer. Actress. Blogger. Vlogger. YouTuber. A very talented young lady, Carrie is not only a very successful YouTuber, she also plays one of the lead roles in Les Miserables as Eponine as her day job. She also is currently touring around the UK on ‘The War of the Worlds’ tour. In 2015, she realises her first book. Her videos include; sit-down vlogs, follow-me-around vlogs, music covers, booktube videos and tag videos.

Lastly, Giovanna Fletcher. Actress. Writer. Gi, like Tom, trained as an actor. Although, she really enjoys acting she found her forte in writing and she now has two novels and a novella to her name.

Check out their channels and enjoy!

Music: Matt Willis

Standard

MWToday’s Music Recommendation is Matt Willis’ Solo Album, Don’t Let It Go to Waste. Most people, I’m sure, know who Matt is but in case you don’t he is a British musician and songwriter, TV presenter and actor. He is one third of the now split band Busted and one sixth of the newly formed supergroup McBusted. Following the Busted split Matt released his debut solo album which had three top 20 singles. In 2006, following this release, he won I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In 2011 Matt starred as Fiyero in the West End hit musical Wicked! Following this in 2013, he appeared in The West End Men alongside Lee Mead. Matt Willis, as well as working with the McFly and Busted boys, has a role in UK soap EastEnders as Luke Riley. In January Matt played the role of Garth Stubbs in Birds of a Feather.

CDMatt Willis’ solo career was short-lived as he soon realised he much preferred creating albums and music in a band. Never the less, Matt managed to create a wonderful pop-punk album. I listen to this album a lot because it’s got a similar sound to Busted but is mixed with a harder, edgier tone which just sounds so good. My favourite songs are Fade out and Ex-Girlfriend although I do absolutely the entire album.

Music: Jesus Christ Superstar and Phantom of the Opera

Standard

Today’s music recommendation is going to be Jesus Christ Superstar. This is because I like a lot of musicals and I always name Phantom of the Jesus Christ SuperstarOpera as my favourite for its atmosphere, it’s drama and the phantom himself and I absolutely love it’s music but I don’t necessarily love all the songs… so I’ve had to re-evaluate which is my favourite and I think Jesus Christ Superstar deserves the top spot in my musical lophantom-1ving heart. I love all of the music in Jesus Christ Superstar and I always sing along and I know all the words. The music tends to be my go to play on Spotify and I think it’s just crafted magnificently, not that Phantom isn’t, both Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar have brilliantly composed music and that’s thanks to the genius that is Andrew Lloyd Webber.

So I guess this post has become me raving about both musicals. Now I’ve had the pleasure to watch Phantom of the Opera in London at the West End and it was fantastic. I’ve also fallen in love with the 2013 arena tour version of Jesus Christ Superstar that we have on DVD. It is because of the incredible music that they’ve hooked me so well.

Before the rambling continues… Here’s a song from both shows:

If ever you have the chance to see either show, grab it!
